SCHOOL FOR BODY-MIND CENTERING® YOGA IMMERSION SERIES:

The Basic Neurocellular Patterns with an Embryological Foundation in the Practice of Yoga:

The Limb Patterns
Periphery & Connectivity, Moving Into Relationship

THIS NEW ONLINE MODULE is composed of recorded livestream classes, plus additional bonus yoga classes to continue your integration. A total of 50+ hours of embodied learning, in an easy online library format to access as often as you wish.

Live Virtual Class / 20 Recorded Classes / 38 Hours. These classes were originally presented live and recorded. They are an active combination of presentation, somatization and movement exploration, principles of embodiment and application, with time for discussion and questions.

Pre-Recorded Class / Ten 75-minute Classes / 12 hours. These classes are designed to continue your integration of the material presented in each section. Classes are embodied explorations of yoga with application of material to asana, sequencing, breath, meditation and philosophy.

THE BASIC NEUROCELLULAR PATTERNS

In The Practice Of Yoga

The Basic Neurocellular Patterns establish a foundation on which we build our movement, physical, perceptual, emotional and cognitive process. They guide our interaction with gravity and space, our sense of self, our relationship with others and the environment.

Each movement pattern is a reference point to experientially explore and gain insights into your practice. They provide a valuable insight into gaps in integration and alignment, and new perspectives on sequencing and asana choice. Once fully embodied they allow us to enter with more ease into the fullness of our being, and to live our lives with greater confidence, flexibility and presence.

The Limb Patterns:
Periphery & Connectivity, Moving Into Relationship

This module will build from the Spinal Vertebrate Patterns to the dynamic relationship of the Limb Patterns. These patterns manifest as balance, power, flexibility, strength and stability. They help us to synthesize three dimensional movement internally within our body and externally through space. When integrated movement can flow easily from center to periphery, peripheral to center, top to bottom, bottom to top, left and right, right and left. The balance of the body is able to organized multidimensionally around our central axis.

The Spinal Patterns build upon the establishment of the vertical axis in prespinal and lay the foundation for the development of the limb patterns. Movement initiated in the spine provides the base for the movement of our arms and legs. All of the limb patterns orient the limbs toward the spine and midline, and the spine is included in the expression of the movement of the limbs.

The limb patterns begin with the Homologous Patterns. They establish symmetric movement, midline orientation, and a broad base of support. They develop strength and grounding through our relationship with gravity and the earth. Our upper and lower body differentiation and integration.

Homolateral Patterns are the first asymmetrical patterns. They establish right and left sidedness, and lateral line orientation. This two-part pattern differentiates and integrates the two sides of the body. Embodying our right and left sides contributes to our sense of balance, and lateral shifting of weight side to side.

Contralateral Patterns build on and integrate all the previous patterns by establishing diagonal integration of the limbs. They differentiate and integrate the diagonal quadrants of the body, and synthesize three-dimensional movement within our body and through external space.

Embryological Foundations: To deepen our embodiment of the limb patterns we will explore the development of whole body tone, the central core of the body, and the growth of the limbs.
